A Sure Sign of Spring: Trade Show Fever

It’s as reliable as seeing the first robins and crocuses---when the schedule starts filling up with trade shows (some on the same dates), you know Spring is almost here. The AdvantageCS team will be attending, sponsoring, and exhibiting this Spring at conferences in the US, the UK and Europe.

First up is Digital Innovators Summit, March 18-20, in Berlin. DIS has the goal of helping legacy magazine publishers adapt to the digital era. Over the years, DIS has evolved to consider innovations across a range of content-driven media and related industries. Today, DIS attracts some 600+ delegates from over 35 countries. Come visit with Dan Heffernan and Philippe van Mastrigt at Stand 2h.

Next, is the UKSG (United Kingdom Serials Group) Annual Conference, April 9-11 in Glasgow. This annual conference is a major event in the scholarly communications world and attracts over 900 delegates from around the world---librarians, publishers, content providers, consultants and intermediaries. Representing AdvantageCS at stand #1 will be Mona Hidayet and Cindy Twiss.

Back in the US, ACT 8 (Amplify, Clarify and Testify), April 17-20 in Oxford, Mississippi. The Magazine Innovation Center on the campus of the University of Mississippi will hold its annual ACT Experience on and about the future of print in a digital age. AdvantageCS is a sponsor; Dan Heffernan will be there and Mona Hidayet will be a panel speaker, details TBD.

Crossing the pond again, the Subscription Summit, April 18-19 in London. Put on by INFA (International News Media Association), it will focus on best practices internationally in how to acquire and retain subscribers, how to benchmark success, how to reduce churn, and how to make an entire news operation responsible for subscription success. Philippe van Mastrigt will attend---contact him to arrange a meeting.

Also in London is Membership Excellence on April 25th. It’s put on by The MemberWise Network, which is an independent professional networking group that provides practical help and support to over 4,800 membership organisation and association professionals based in the UK and overseas. AdvantageCS is a sponsor of the conference, and Dan Heffernan will give a 30-minute presentation on “Driving Membership Growth via System/Process Consolidation & Benefit Bundles.” Visit Dan and Philippe van Mastrigt at Stand #6.

Back across the Atlantic is the SSP (Society for Scholarly Publishing) Annual Conference, May 30 - June 1 in Chicago. As SSP celebrates its 40th anniversary, the theme for the conference highlights the many crossroads within scholarly publishing, including past and future practices, changing revenue models, funding challenges, regulation changes, technological innovations, and reaching new markets while maintaining established ones. AdvantageCS will have a booth and Dan Heffernan and Mona Hidayet will be there to meet with you.

Also in Chicago is AMS Fest, June 6-7. Attendees are association executives, AMS consultants and AMS vendors that all want to engage in discussions around nothing but AMS (Association Management Systems). Topics include: the future of AMS, what’s trending, what’s not working and what is working, what’s the most innovative, should associations or technology vendors be the guiding force in development, what new systems are out there, CRM vs AMS, should we expect cryptocurrency to affect our systems in the future, preparation for mergers and acquisitions, data privacy laws, and more. AdvantageCS is a Showcase Company and Dan Heffernan will present a demo of Members Advantage.

Heading east, IMAG is June 13-14 in Boston. This Independent Magazine conference put on by MPA will focus on audience-first ideas and strategies---including revenue diversification and monetizing strong relationships across all platforms. AdvantageCS is a sponsor and Dan Heffernan will be there.

Rounding out the first half of the year is Society Street, June 26 in London. It’s a new conference for the senior leadership teams of professional societies, Royal Colleges, and not-for-profit member organizations. The conference looks to present the latest thinking on membership matters, publication strategies, finance and governance. AdvantageCS is a Gold Sponsor and will have a booth. Dan Heffernan will be the lead-off speaker at the event.

We hope to see you at an event---or two or three---this year!
